LONDON, September 15. /Dunyo IA/.  “Mustaqillik Run” marathon was held in the capital of the United Kingdom in honour of the Independence Day of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Sporting event was organized on the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Vatandoshlar Public Fund and the London-based “GashTak” community.

Primary objective of the event was to widely celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan, unite compatriots residing abroad, promote a healthy lifestyle and further stimulate interest in sports among the youth.

“Mustaqillik Run” marathon brought together more than 100 Uzbek citizens studying and working in the United Kingdom, representatives of the youth, as well as friends maintaining close ties with Uzbekistan.

Marathon served not only as a sporting event but also as a significant community initiative, uniting citizens of Uzbekistan residing in the United Kingdom around a shared goal and common values.

Participants of the marathon noted that initiatives such as the “Mustaqillik Run” contribute to the further strengthening of the spiritual and cultural ties of compatriots living abroad with Uzbekistan, the widespread promotion of our national values and the popularization of a healthy and active lifestyle.
