TOKYO, June 10. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan and concurrently to the Republic of Fiji Mukhsinkhuja Abdurakhmonov, met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Fiji to Japan Kemuely Naikama, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Fiji, as well as prospects for their further development.

The interlocutors noted that this year marks the 16th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, emphasizing the positive dynamics of cooperation in recent years.

Special attention was paid to the appointment of the first Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Fiji and the new Ambassador of Fiji to Uzbekistan. According to the parties, these steps establish a critical foundation for revitalizing bilateral contacts.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed matters concerning the expansion of political dialogue, the strengthening of interaction between the respective foreign ministries, the development of cooperation within international organizations and the intensification of mutual visits at various levels.

Opportunities for cooperation in trade, economic, educational, cultural-humanitarian and tourism spheres, as well as in the field of climate change, were also discussed.

The representatives of Fiji highly commended the large-scale reforms and economic transformations underway in Uzbekistan, expressing interest in expanding practical interaction across various areas.

Following the negotiations, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation, maintaining a regular dialogue, and promoting joint initiatives.

As a reminder, in August of last year, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mukhsinkhuja Abdurakhmonov, presented his credentials to the President of Fiji Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere.
