Uzbekistan expands economic cooperation with Sverdlovsk and Tyumen Regions of Russia

• 95YEKATERINBURG-TYUMEN, October 2. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Ambassador to Russia Botirjon Asadov, visited the Sverdlovsk and Tyumen regions, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Within the framework of the working visit, a series of meetings and negotiations were held, aimed at developing cooperation in the fields of education, trade and economic ties, labour migration, personnel training, tourism and humanitarian interaction.
In the Sverdlovsk region, negotiations were held with the leadership of the Ural State University of Railway Transport. The parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation with higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan in the field of transport education, as well as the implementation of double-degree training programs. Preliminary agreements were reached on the execution of joint initiatives in the future.
Within the framework of the visit, a solemn reception was held in Yekaterinburg on the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan. Event was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Sverdlovsk region and the city of Yekaterinburg, diplomatic corps, chambers of commerce and industry, higher educational institutions, business circles, as well as compatriots.
At the meeting with citizens of Uzbekistan residing in the Ural Federal District, recommendations were given to pay particular attention to pursuing education and complying with the requirements of local legislation during their stay and employment abroad, as well as subsequently channelling their acquired knowledge and skills into the development of Uzbekistan.
In the Sverdlovsk region, a meeting was held with the leadership of “Everton” company, during which the parties discussed establishing peanut exports from Uzbekistan, expanding bilateral cooperation, and organizing the structured recruitment of compatriots for labour activities. Furthermore, on-site consular receptions were conducted for more than 100 citizens of Uzbekistan employed at the company.
In the Tyumen region, prospects for trade and economic cooperation were discussed with the leadership of JSC “ZapSibNeftekhim”, one of the largest petrochemical enterprises in Russia, and preliminary agreements were reached on holding joint events. During the visit, meetings were also held with more than 400 compatriots employed at the enterprise, during which their appeals and issues were reviewed.
At the negotiations with the Tyumen Chamber of Commerce and Industry and local companies, particular attention was paid to the employment of citizens of Uzbekistan, the training of qualified personnel, and the establishment of cooperation between educational institutions and enterprises. Specifically, it was noted that there is a demand in Tyumen for 600 specialists in the construction sector and more than 1.5 thousand workers for enterprises in the oil refining industry.
Furthermore, agreements were reached on establishing a targeted vocational training system based within professional educational institutions of Uzbekistan in cooperation with major manufacturing enterprises of the Tyumen region. Particular interest was expressed in developing interaction with oil and gas professional educational institutions located in the cities of Kokand, Karshi and Bukhara.
One of the significant outcomes of the visit was a meeting with the Governor of the Tyumen Region, Aleksandr Moor. During the meeting, it was noted that in 2026, the volume of joint initiatives on trade and economic cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and the Tyumen region increased threefold. Parties expressed mutual interest in further expanding interaction in the fields of trade, exports and imports, tourism, investments, and labour activities.
