India-Central Asia cooperation prospects discussed in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, March 27. /Dunyo IA/. An international conference titled “India–Central Asia: Connectivity, Security and Sustainable Partnerships in a Multipolar World” was held in New Delhi, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The forum brought together heads of diplomatic missions from the region’s states, representatives of expert-analytical circles and scientific institutions from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and India, as well as members of the diplomatic corps.

During the conference, key areas of interaction between India and the Central Asian countries were examined in detail. Participants paid particular attention to the development of transport and economic connectivity, including prospects for expanding international corridors and trade routes.

A significant part of the discussion was dedicated to regional security issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, counter-terrorism efforts, and the strengthening of regional stability. Participants also exchanged views on forming sustainable partnerships in the energy, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as the roles of India and Central Asian states in the emerging multipolar global architecture.

Speakers emphasized the increasing significance of Central Asia within India’s foreign policy course, noting that the region is becoming a key link in the Eurasian architecture. Priorities identified included the development of transport corridors, energy cooperation and the intensification of political dialogue.

A special emphasis was placed on cooperation with Uzbekistan, underscoring its role as a strategic and reliable partner. Delegates at the conference highlighted that Uzbek–Indian relations continue to demonstrate robust and sustained momentum, rooted in shared historical ties and a mutual commitment to deepening bilateral trade and economic engagement.

Speakers identified several promising areas for expanded cooperation, including the implementation of joint transport and logistics initiatives, enhanced digitalisation partnerships and the development of rare earth metals potential. Wider exchange and collaboration in the educational and cultural spheres were also spotlighted as key vectors for strengthening ties between the two nations.

Experts emphasized the importance of intensifying joint initiatives, reinforcing institutional and financial frameworks for effective business collaboration, and engaging both the private sector and academic communities within the framework of bilateral partnership.

The conference served as a key scientific and practical platform for exchanging views, developing strategic approaches and strengthening Indo–Central Asian cooperation amid contemporary geopolitical challenges.
