Russian media: Uzbekistan’s cultural diplomacy in St. Petersburg receives high praise

ST. PETERSBURG, June 25. /Dunyo IA/. One of St. Petersburg’s leading publications, National Business. North-West, has published an article highlighting Uzbekistan’s cultural program at the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The publication notes that Uzbekistan presented one of the forum’s most extensive cultural initiatives, implemented with the support of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation. The program brought together a number of significant exhibition and theatrical projects prepared in cooperation with leading Russian cultural institutions.

Particular attention is given to exhibition projects hosted by the Fabergé Museum and the State Hermitage Museum. These included the exhibition “Earthly Love and Heavenly Love: Vladimir and Konstantin Makovsky”, complemented by works from the collection of the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan, as well as the exhibition “Opening the Palace Chambers: Art at the Court of the Emir of Bukhara”, dedicated to the artistic heritage of the Emirate of Bukhara.

The article also highlights a performance of George Frideric Handel’s opera Tamerlano, staged at the Mariinsky Theatre as part of the Petersburg Seasons festival. The production was recognized as one of the notable events of the forum’s international cultural program.

As emphasized in the publication, Uzbekistan’s cultural initiatives at SPIEF 2026 demonstrate the growing role of art as a tool for international dialogue and humanitarian cooperation, contributing to stronger mutual understanding between nations and the expansion of cultural ties.
