MINSK, August 11. /Dunyo IA/.  Ambassador of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Mamajonov met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeenko, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Belarusian trade and economic ties, advancement of interregional cooperation as exemplified by the interaction between the Vitebsk and Andijan Regions, cooperation plans for other regions, as well as opportunities for the successful implementation of projects in industrial cooperation.

Igor Sergeenko also declared his readiness to provide the necessary assistance in regulating labour migration processes in the Vitebsk Region and ensuring the qualitative implementation of joint projects.

According to the Chairman of the House of Representatives, in order to achieve the set strategic goals in the trade and economic sphere - including increasing the volume of mutual trade to 2 billion dollars, strengthening industrial cooperation and connectivity - it is also important to effectively utilize economic mechanisms within the CIS alongside the development of interregional ties. In this regard, he noted and welcomed the accession of Uzbekistan to the CIS Free Trade Zone Treaty.

Furthermore, during the conversation, the parties noted the presence of broad unutilized opportunities for the development of cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian, and tourism spheres. An agreement was reached on the implementation of a number of joint events in these areas, in particular Days of Culture, tourism forums, as well as projects in the field of medicine and healthcare.
