MINSK, September 10. /Dunyo IA/.  A solemn event on the occasion of the 35^th Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan, organized by the Embassy in cooperation with the Khokimiyat of Surkhandarya Region, was held in the capital of Belarus, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was attended by representatives of state bodies, the parliament, the government, regional and city executive committees of Belarus, heads of enterprises and higher education institutions, ambassadors of foreign nations, representatives of business circles, compatriots and Uzbek students studying in Belarus.

Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yuri Shuleiko delivered congratulatory remarks. Presentations on the economic and investment potential of the Surkhandarya and Mogilev regions were also held.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Mamajonov noted that the friendly and open relations between the leaders of the two nations, alongside the agreements reached at the highest level in July, have elevated bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

“Currently, the effective implementation of these agreements is being actively ensured by the ministries and agencies of both countries. The parties are achieving concrete results within the framework of cooperation in agriculture and industry”, he stated.

Yuri Shuleiko emphasized that the historic visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Belarus identified promising areas and goals for interaction. According to him, interregional ties expanded significantly in August and September, marked by visits from representatives of several regions of the two countries.

“Today, the delegation led by the Khokim of Surkhandarya Region has also reached concrete and promising agreements”, noted the Deputy Head of the Belarusian Government.

Khokim of Surkhandarya Region Ulugbek Kosimov reported on the establishment of partnership relations with the Mogilev Region and the results achieved, expressing readiness to develop close cooperation with other regions of Belarus.

It was noted at the event that in the coming days, issues of interregional interaction are scheduled to be discussed in Khiva within the framework of the Uzbek-Belarusian Interparliamentary Forum.

Cultural program was presented by Jenisbek Piyazov, People's Artist of Uzbekistan, Karakalpakstan, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan and opera singer; Oksana Volkova, Honored Artist of Belarus and soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre and the “Sharqona” dance ensemble.

Guests were also served dishes of Uzbek national cuisine along with fresh and dried fruits from the Surkhandarya region. It was stated that the celebration demonstrated the traditional Uzbek hospitality, openness and high level of culture.
