Uzbekistan showcases its rich cultural and tourism heritage in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, November 21. /Dunyo IA/. A special exhibition dedicated to the art of Uzbekistan has been unveiled at the Shanghai Museum of Art Collections, as part of the international showcase "Impressions from the Western Horizon – 2025 Joint Art Exhibition",  reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the tourism sector, the media, as well as cultural figures and members of the business community, were in attendance.

A highlight of Uzbekistan’s participation was the presentation of a unique collection of works by renowned Uzbek artists. Their paintings, reflecting the richness of national traditions and distinctive aesthetics, seamlessly complemented the overall concept of the exhibition and attracted significant interest from visitors.

It was noted that Uzbekistan’s artistic school has been shaped by a millennia-long history, architectural heritage, rich artisanal traditions, and a philosophical worldview, making the works of Uzbek masters immediately recognizable and deeply expressive.

It was further emphasized that Uzbekistan consistently prioritizes the preservation and promotion of its cultural heritage. A significant international recognition of this policy was the hosting of the first off-site session of the UNESCO General Assembly in Samarkand. This event underscored the country’s commitment to playing an increasingly active role in global cultural cooperation.

The presentation of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential also attracted significant attention from attendees. Participants were introduced to the country’s rich heritage of historic cities, unique natural landscapes, culinary offerings, and modern tourism infrastructure.

A key highlight of the program was the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Representative Office of the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee in China and the Shanghai Tourism Industry Association. The agreement aims to expand cooperation in the tourism sector, jointly promote tourism products, organize familiarization tours for tour operators, exchange professional expertise, and create conditions to increase the flow of tourists between the two countries.

Exhibition attendees noted that the event represents an important step in strengthening the cultural and humanitarian dialogue between Uzbekistan and China, opening new opportunities for further cooperation in the fields of art, tourism, and interregional relations.
