The Chairperson of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO and the Fund for the Development of Culture and Arts, Gayane Umerova, held talks in Paris with Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, aimed at discussing priority areas of cooperation in the conservation and effective management of World Heritage sites in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the discussions, particular attention was given to the development and implementation of joint projects in Bukhara, including the restoration of the architectural complex “Poi Kalyan” and the creation of an open-air archaeological museum on the territory of the Shahristan.

Special emphasis was placed on measures to preserve Uzbekistan’s unique cultural heritage sites in accordance with the World Heritage Convention and international standards, while ensuring the sustainable development of historic cities.

At the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to further strengthen cooperation and ensure the effective implementation of initiatives in the field of cultural heritage, reaffirming Uzbekistan’s commitment to the preservation of its cultural legacy in close cooperation with UNESCO.
