Istanbul hosts first informal meeting of heads of parliaments of Turkic states

ISTANBUL, April 18. /Dunyo IA/. Delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the first informal meeting of the heads of parliaments of Turkic states in Istanbul, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the upper house of parliament, the delegation of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, led by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbaeva, took an active part in the meeting.
During the meeting, it was noted that as a result of the effective cooperation established between the heads of state within the Organization of Turkic States, a number of initiatives are being implemented aimed at economic development, strengthening regional security, combating climate change and expanding cultural ties.
Participants attached particular significance to the role and importance of parliaments in this process. Specifically, it was emphasized that parliaments play a vital role in further strengthening cooperation by improving the legislative framework, ensuring effective parliamentary oversight of the implementation of decisions and, as representative bodies of the people, serve as key institutions facilitating these processes and ensuring sustainable development.
Uzbek side expressed its readiness to further develop the interparliamentary dialogue between Turkic states, coordinate legislative activities, promote joint initiatives in the fields of education, science, culture and economic cooperation, as well as exchange best practices.
