Uzbekistan and International Community to mark the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur

ТASHKENT, February 6. /Dunyo IA/. President of Uzbekistan has signed a resolution “On the nationwide celebration of the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman and military commander, patron of science, culture and art Sahibqiron Amir Temur”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The primary objective of the resolution is to elevate organisational and practical, scholarly and spiritual-educational efforts to a qualitatively new level, taking into account the national and universal significance of the era of the Second Renaissance - an era whose foundations were laid by the country’s great forebear and its profound role and influence in nurturing the younger generation as the builders of the New Uzbekistan.

The document provides for the wide-ranging celebration this year of the 690th anniversary of the birth of Sahibqiron Amir Temur, the designation of April as Amir Temur Month on an annual basis, and the organisation of meetings as well as cultural and educational events within this framework. These activities are to be held in general secondary schools, secondary specialised and vocational institutions, higher education establishments, military units and military educational institutions, as well as at enterprises, organisations and mahallas, with the participation of scholars specialising in Amir Temur studies, writers and figures from the arts.

The resolution approves a “Roadmap” for the systematic study of the history of the Timurid era and the broad international dissemination of scholarly findings through to 2030.

In addition, an international scientific conference entitled “The Role and Significance of Amir Temur and the Timurid Civilisation in World History and Culture” will be held on 9–10 April 2026 at the Centre of Islamic Civilisation in Uzbekistan.

According to the document, a series of books, as well as academic and popular-science publications dedicated to the history of the era of Amir Temur and the Timurids, will be prepared and published.

The document highlights as a key priority the organisation of efforts to bring to Uzbekistan copies of original written sources on the Timurid era currently held in foreign countries. It also предусматривает the screening in countries such as Spain, France and the United Kingdom of historical-artistic and documentary films produced under the “Tirik Tarikh” (“Living History”) project, which depict the diplomatic and ambassadorial ties of Amir Temur’s empire with European states, as well as the creation of a digital platform dedicated to sources from the Timurid period.
