During a high-level meeting at the lower chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, active steps were highlighted to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations and consolidate institutional frameworks between Uzbekistan and Germany. The discussions, held within the Committees on Agriculture and Water Resources of the Legislative Chamber and the Committees on Agriculture, Water Management, and Ecology of the Senate, focused on enhancing sector-specific legislation, promoting sustainable water resource management, and advancing joint initiatives in land reclamation, seed production, mechanization, and veterinary services. The meeting underscores a shared commitment to deepening legislative dialogue and practical cooperation, reinforcing the institutional foundations necessary for long-term agricultural and environmental development.
The parties reached an agreement to activate parliamentary friendship groups and establish a permanent platform for expert consultations. This initiative aims to enhance continuous dialogue, knowledge exchange, and joint policy development, reinforcing institutional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany.
During a high-level meeting, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Hermann Ferber, Chair of the Committee on Food, Agriculture and Homeland of the German Bundestag, exchanged views on new joint initiatives in livestock, aquaculture, and digitalization of the agricultural sector. During the dialogue, particular emphasis was placed on human capital development. Plans were outlined to expand internship programs for students and young farmers in Germany, further develop the dual education system in higher education, and orient training modules toward practical skills and environmental sustainability.
A roundtable discussion on "Sustainable Agriculture and Future Education" was held at Tashkent State Agrarian University, with participation from German specialists.
