President of Uzbekistan receives delegation of Singapore

ТАSHKENT, August 28. /Dunyo IA/. Today, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from Singapore led by Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the Head of our State, at the beginning of the meeting, the Senior Minister conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in Uzbekistan–Singapore relations. Political dialogue and bilateral contacts at all levels continue to develop actively.
Trade turnover and the number of joint ventures continue to grow. Singaporean investment in Uzbekistan has reached approximately $2 billion.
Two sides supported plans to expand the investment activities of Singaporean businesses in Uzbekistan and agreed to develop a joint medium-term Program for Strategic and Innovative Partnership, focusing on trade, investment, technology transfer, modernization of public administration, human capital development, digitalization and other areas.
Particular attention was paid to applying Singapore’s best practices in the development of special economic zones, the Tashkent International Financial Center, and digital banking in Uzbekistan.
Parties expressed support for the activities of Singaporean universities in Uzbekistan.
They emphasized the need to establish regular direct dialogue between relevant political and economic institutions to assess progress in implementing high-level agreements and coordinate joint plans.
Uzbekistan’s recent accession to the UN Singapore Convention on Mediation was welcomed.
Meeting also included an exchange of views on mutual support within international organizations and regional cooperation.
