“China–Central Asia” Human Rights Development Forum concludes with adoption of the “Tashkent Initiative”

• 206TASHKENT, May 14. /Dunyo IA/. Today, “China–Central Asia” Human Rights Development Forum was held in Tashkent, organized by the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD) in cooperation with the National Center of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (NCHR), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Theme of the Forum is “Jointly promoting progress in human rights through high-quality development”.
Event was attended by about 100 representatives of state structures, the expert and scientific community, business circles and the media from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
During the opening of the forum, it was emphasized that ensuring opportunities for the full realization of human rights is a common task of the international community. It was noted that China and the Central Asian countries, as developing states, share similar approaches to the issues of sustainable development and the promotion of human rights.
Welcoming remarks were delivered to the forum participants by Li Hongkui, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development; Academician Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights; Yu Jun, Ambassador of the PRC; Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia; Samadi Shokhin, Deputy Secretary General of the Secretariat of the “Central Asia – China” format and Alua Nadirkulova, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
The speakers noted the special significance of holding the Fourth “China – Central Asia” Human Rights Development Forum on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Right to Development and the 5th anniversary of the Global Development Initiative. It was emphasized that the forum is taking place during a period of active strengthening of cooperation within the “China – Central Asia” format.
At the plenary session, the priority areas of interaction between China and the Central Asian states in the field of human rights were reviewed. Reports were delivered by leading experts and representatives of relevant institutions from the six countries of the region.
In particular, speeches were delivered by Sherzod Abdukadirov, Rector of the Academy of Justice of Uzbekistan; Liu Huawen, Director of the Institute of International Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Viktor Tikhonov, Head of the Civil and Political Rights Department of the National Center for Human Rights of Kazakhstan; Emilbek Azhibekov, Head of the Department for Preventive Visits to Closed Institutions of the Ombudsman Institute (Akyikatchy) of Kyrgyzstan; Murodjon Turgunov, Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan; Qi Yanping, Head of the Scientific Council for Humanities and Social Sciences at Beijing Institute of Technology and Director of the China Center for Science and Technology Human Rights Studies; Parviz Olimzoda, Chief Specialist of the Human Rights Guarantees Department of the Executive Office of the President of Tajikistan; Dovlet Amanmyradov, Senior Researcher at the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan and Qin Tianbao, Dean of the School of Law at Wuhan University and Director of the China Research Institute of Environmental Law.
The forum's work continued within the framework of three panel sessions dedicated to poverty reduction, improving public welfare, environmental safety, “green” development, digital technologies and their role in ensuring human rights and realizing the right to development.
Participants exchanged practical experience and modern approaches in the field of digital governance, sustainable development and social policy, emphasizing their significance for the effective protection of human rights.
Following the forum, a final document was adopted - the “Tashkent Initiative”, reflecting the main directions of further cooperation in the field of the development and protection of human rights among the countries of the region.
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the China Foundation for Human Rights Development also took place within the framework of the event.
