Uzbek diplomats visit Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University to strengthen cooperation with students and the university

SAINT PETERSBURG, March 19. /Dunyo IA/.  A delegation from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan, led by Kabul Alimov, visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the visit, a meeting was held with Dmitry Arseniev, Vice-Rector in charge of international activities and economic relations, who reported that approximately 150 students from Uzbekistan are currently studying at SPbPU, including bachelor's, master's, specialist, and postgraduate students. The largest numbers of Uzbek students are enrolled in the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade, Humanities Institute and Institute of Computer Science and Security.

The parties also discussed joint projects with Uzbek universities, including participation in Rectors' Forums, the “Winter University” project, holding scientific conferences, publications and internships. They addressed work within the federal project “Advanced Engineering Schools” and the “Engineers of the Future” Consortium project, as well as submitting applications for multilateral grants from Russian scientific foundations.

Kabul Alimov thanked the university leadership for their assistance in strengthening cooperation and emphasized the importance of training highly qualified specialists for the national industry.

Following the negotiations, a meeting was held with Uzbek students, representatives of the international department and SPbPU institutes. Issues regarding the migration registration of foreign students, the consulate's work with student youth and the organization of joint events were discussed.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation was given a tour of the departments of the Higher School of International Educational Programs, shown the operation of the multifunctional center for foreign students using the “one-stop-shop” system, as well as the students' living conditions in the university dormitories.
