BUDAPEST, March 18. /Dunyo IA/. Interest in the rich cultural, historical and scientific heritage of Amir Temur and the Temurid era is steadily growing in Hungary, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
This reflects the country's growing demand for knowledge about Central Asia, its history, culture and scientific achievements, as well as a desire to strengthen international cooperation in the field of humanities research.
Throughout 2026, Budapest plans to host an entire cycle of scientific and cultural events dedicated to the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great commander, statesman and patron of science, culture and the arts, Amir Temur.
One of the key events will be the international conference titled “Amir Temur and the Temurids: History and the Era's Influence on the Development of Science and Culture in Central Asia”, to be held in Budapest in 2026. The event promises to become an important platform for dialogue between scholars from both countries and the exchange of cutting-edge research on the Temurids' influence on shaping the region's cultural and scientific landscape.
In March 2026, with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, online negotiations took place between Azamat Ziyo, Director of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and Dávid Somfai Kara, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. During this journey, the researcher plans to photograph monuments and historical sites to include them in the Hungarian edition, making the text as visual and accessible as possible for a European audience. The Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan has expressed its readiness to support the project and actively participate in its implementation.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further expanding Uzbek-Hungarian scientific and cultural cooperation, including joint publishing projects, research, educational programs and events dedicated to studying the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
