NAMANGAN, June 9. /Dunyo IA/. On the initiative of the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Yekaterinburg, “Compatriots Football Cup – 2026” tournament was held with the participation of compatriots living in foreign countries, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The sporting event, organized as part of the International Flower Festival in Namangan, was held in cooperation with the Khokimiyat of Namangan Region, “Vatandosh” Public Fund and the Uzbekistan Football Association.

Along with the Namangan region team and football veterans, 8 teams from Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Türkiye participated in the tournament.

The competition served not only as a sporting contest but also as an important platform uniting Uzbeks living and working in different countries.

According to the organizers, the main goal of the tournament was to strengthen the sense of patriotism among compatriots abroad, increase their unity, widely promote a healthy lifestyle and further develop cultural and humanitarian ties.

Held on the eve of the Uzbekistan national football team's historic, first-ever participation in the FIFA World Cup, this tournament served to further enhance pride in the Motherland, national unity and solidarity.

At the same time, the event created an important opportunity to strengthen ties with compatriots living abroad and expand their involvement in the life of the country.

Following the results of the competitions, the winning teams and runners-up were solemnly awarded. The teams that took first, second, and third places were presented with cups, diplomas and commemorative gifts.
