MUNICH, May 26 /Dunyo IA/. The second intellectual tournament “Zakovat” was held among Uzbek compatriots in the capital of the federal state of Bavaria dedicated to the 690th anniversary of the birth of Sakhibkiran Amir Temur, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event brought together active members of the Uzbek diaspora residing in Germany.

The tournament was organized on the initiative of the diplomatic mission with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the public foundation “Vatandoshlar,” the Uzbek-German cultural association “Karavan e.V.,” and the “Zakovat” club.

At the opening ceremony, speakers highlighted reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the “Year of Development of Mahalla and Strengthening Public Engagement,” as well as government efforts to support talented youth, facilitate their education in prestigious foreign universities, and improve access to foreign languages and modern professions.

Odiljon Sattarov, Chairman of the Board of the public foundation “Vatandoshlar”, expressed readiness to implement joint projects with compatriots in Germany and wished success to Uzbek students studying abroad.

Around 20 teams participated in the intellectual competition, with each team consisting of six members. Participants demonstrated their knowledge and intellectual abilities by answering questions in history, culture, science, and general knowledge.

The main objective of the tournament was to strengthen unity among Uzbek compatriots in Germany, foster patriotism, and promote awareness of reforms taking place in New Uzbekistan under the leadership of the Head of State.

Following intense and engaging rounds, the best teams were awarded by the “Vatandoshlar” foundation. The winning team received laptops, second-place winners received tablets, and third-place winners were awarded smartphones. Participants also received the first issue of the foundation’s magazine and German-language booklets “100 Facts” dedicated to the life and legacy of great Uzbek historical figures.

A memorandum of cooperation was also signed between the Uzbek-German cultural association “Karavan e.V.” and the public foundation “Vatandoshlar,” aimed at strengthening ties among compatriots in Germany, supporting initiatives, promoting national values and traditions, organizing cultural and educational circles, and enhancing unity within the diaspora.

Special attention was given to promoting gender equality policies among compatriots abroad, with a separate meeting held with leaders of women’s organizations in Germany. Discussions focused on increasing women’s social engagement, ensuring equal rights and opportunities, and supporting social and cultural initiatives.

The event was further enriched by musical performances from a group of artists led by Botir Kodirov, who arrived from Uzbekistan. The performances added a vibrant cultural atmosphere and allowed participants to feel closer to their homeland.

Participants expressed gratitude to the organizers for the rich and engaging program of the intellectual tournament.

In conclusion, it was noted that such sports, cultural, and educational events involving Uzbek compatriots abroad play an important role in strengthening national identity, promoting cultural heritage, and reinforcing emotional ties with the homeland.
