MUNICH, June 1. /Dunyo IA/. The traditional “Davra Cup 2026” football tournament was held in Munich on the initiative of the “Davra” German-Uzbek Cultural and Sports Association with the support of the “Vatandoshlar” Public Foundation and the Embassy of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event brought together compatriots residing across Europe and was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence and the 690th anniversary of the birth of Amir Temur, the renowned statesman, military leader, and founder of the Temurid Renaissance.

Organized annually since 2013, the tournament was held for the twelfth time this year and has become a popular tradition that unites members of the Uzbek diaspora through sports and friendly competition. This year’s edition featured 28 teams from various European countries.

Prior to the matches, representatives of Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission briefed participants on key areas of the country’s youth policy, ongoing reforms, and initiatives aimed at supporting citizens living abroad.

In the final match, defending champions “FC Real Uragan” faced eight-time tournament winners “FC München”. After a closely contested game ended in a draw, the Munich-based team secured victory in a penalty shootout.

Winners and runners-up received trophies, medals, diplomas, and special awards in the “Best Player” and “Best Goalkeeper” categories.

Alongside the football competition, a women’s volleyball tournament featuring four teams was held, while children and teenagers participated in a variety of interactive activities, including tug-of-war, mini-golf, skipping contests, and drawing competitions.

The event concluded with a traditional Uzbek feast, providing participants and guests with an opportunity to socialize and engage with diplomatic representatives on consular and legal matters.
