STOCKHOLM, July 1. /Dunyo IA/.  Embassy of Uzbekistan in Sweden hosted the fourth traditional football tournament among compatriots, dedicated to the historic qualification of the national team of Uzbekistan for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Competitions brought together compatriots residing not only in Sweden but also in Norway and Latvia. In addition, teams representing the Kyrgyz and Afghan diasporas living in the country entered the tournament.

The team “Maximum” emerged as the winner of the tournament and was presented with a special cup. The runners-up were also honoured with diplomas, medals and commemorative gifts. Individual accolades were explicitly bestowed upon the recipients of the “Best Goalkeeper” and “Best Forward” nominations.

The cultural program of the sports festival was further enhanced by the performance of the renowned Uzbek singer Mustafo, which was warmly received by the participants and guests of the event.

According to the organizers, the tournament gathered more than 500 participants and fans. It was noted that such competitions contribute to the strengthening of ties among representatives of the Uzbek diaspora, as well as to the development of good-neighborly relations and friendship among the peoples of Central Asia.
