14 children killed in Pakistan Educational Center roof collapse

LAHORE, July 1. /Dunyo IA/. In the Pakistani city of Lahore, the roof of a private training center collapsed, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 children, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the “Geo News” television channel.
According to rescue service officials, a teacher and eight children were also injured and have been hospitalized. It is noted that the deceased children were between the ages of five and 16, with the majority being under nine years old. Rescue workers continued to clear the debris, as individuals could still remain trapped under the rubble.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the training center was operating without official registration inside a private residential house. According to authorities, the building was in an unsatisfactory condition, and the structural weakness of the constructions could have been the cause of the collapse.
At the time of the incident, repair works were underway on the roof, and the police have since detained two individuals. The authorities of Punjab Province have initiated an investigation to ascertain whether negligence, violations of building codes, or other legislative infractions occurred, ensuring that those found guilty will be held strictly accountable under the law.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif expressed his profound condolences to the families of the victims, wished a swift recovery to the injured, and instructed that they be provided with all necessary medical assistance.
