One of Germany’s leading economic regions seeks comprehensive partnership with Uzbekistan

DUSSELDORF, May 25. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting dedicated to developing trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian ties with Uzbekistan was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) of Dusseldorf, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the talks, President of the Chamber, Andreas Schmitz, shared his impressions of his visit to Uzbekistan in September 2025. He noted that the ongoing economic reforms, market liberalization and creation of a favourable investment climate in the country form attractive conditions for foreign companies. According to him, Uzbekistan is strengthening its position as one of the region's key economic centers.
Miranshoh Raupov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Frankfurt am Main, expressed gratitude for the organization of the meeting. He also emphasized that relations between the two countries have reached a strategic partnership level in recent years, with cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and migration acquiring a new quality.
During the conversation, Andreas Schmitz spoke about the chamber's activities to inform German businesses about investment opportunities in Uzbekistan and to assist companies planning to enter the Uzbek market. He also shared plans to hold a business forum in Dusseldorf this November involving companies from Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan.
During the conversation, the Uzbek side drew attention to the development of the country's tourism potential and the promotion of cultural heritage abroad. It was noted that since March of this year, the number of airlines operating flights between Uzbekistan and Germany has increased from one to three and the flow of German tourists has grown by 50% compared to last year.
The IHK President emphasized that the modern appearance of Tashkent and the historical cities of the Great Silk Road are of great interest to German tourists. He also noted the efficiency of using digital technologies and online promotion in the tourism sector.
A separate block of discussion was dedicated to cooperation in the field of labor migration. Miranshoh Raupov provided information on projects for training specialists for the German labor market and professional education programs for in-demand occupations. He reaffirmed the readiness to assist German companies in recruiting qualified personnel from Uzbekistan.
From the German side, it was noted that provided there is information available regarding German-speaking specialists who are ready for employment, Chamber, together with the business community, is prepared to consider hiring opportunities.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue cooperation through joint business events and to work out practical mechanisms for attracting Uzbek specialists to companies based in Dusseldorf.
