Cairo discusses popularization of Alisher Navoi’s legacy and joint manuscript research

As part of the events commemorating the 585th anniversary of the birth of the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi, a delegation of the Navoi Expedition, led by Olimjon Davlatov, Executive Director of the Alisher Navoi International Public Foundation, visited Egypt, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
As part of the program, the delegation held discussions with Professor Mahmoud El-Said, Vice President of Cairo University. The talks focused on prospects for studying the scientific and cultural legacy of Alisher Navoi, developing joint research in Oriental studies and Turkic literature, implementing academic exchange programs and organizing international conferences. Special emphasis was placed on promoting Navoi’s heritage in the Arab world and collaborating on the study of manuscript sources.
A key area of cooperation was identified in the establishment of the Alisher Navoi Cabinet of Uzbek Language and Culture at Cairo University, development of Uzbek language instruction and mutual translation of masterpieces from Uzbek and Arab literature.
During their visit to the university library, members of the expedition explored unique manuscript collections and conducted scholarly research, deepening academic and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Egypt.
The delegation also met with Dr. Abdulati Sharkawi, Head of the “Ilm” Heritage Restoration and Digital Services Institution.The discussions focused on developing cooperation in the joint study, digitization and scholarly dissemination of ancient manuscripts related to Uzbek literature. In particular, the parties explored opportunities to preserve and research works connected to the Timurid era and the legacy of Alisher Navoi, utilizing modern digital technologies.
During their visit to the “Ilm” Foundation’s collections, the delegation examined valuable manuscript materials, uncovering important historical and literary insights.
At the conclusion of the meetings, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to systematically developing the partnership, strengthening academic and cultural ties, and implementing joint projects in the future.
The visit marked a significant step toward deepening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt, while promoting the international recognition of Alisher Navoi’s enduring legacy.
