BEIJING, February 9. /Dunyo IA/. At the initiative of Uzbekistan’s Embassy, an online seminar was organized for Uzbek specialists to study China’s successful experience in combating desertification, particularly in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Chinese experts shared insights into effective strategies for combating desertification, improving saline soils and applying high-efficiency water-saving technologies. Participants also exchanged views on utilizing existing cooperation mechanisms, particularly through the implementation of joint projects and the development of a model framework for environmental cooperation.
The discussions also highlighted the practical achievements of the Desertification Control Cooperation Center established in Ningxia within the framework of the “Central Asia - China” cooperation format, underscoring its role as a platform for knowledge exchange and joint action in addressing environmental challenges.
Participants noted that Uzbekistan and China, which share similar temperate continental climate conditions, face common challenges such as drought, water scarcity and the management of saline soils. They emphasized both countries’ commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
It was underlined that the practical experience accumulated by the two countries in the field of environmental protection has created a solid foundation for complementary and mutually reinforcing cooperation.
In order to achieve the set objectives in combating desertification, the sides agreed to organize joint field visits by specialists to study on-the-ground practices and exchange hands-on expertise.
