Uzbekistan and Syria’s regional authorities plan trade growth and collaborative initiatives

• 191BUKHARA, February 14. /Dunyo IA/. A Syrian delegation, led by Alaa Alali, President of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, visited the Bukhara region to get acquainted with the production of textiles and construction materials, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The Syrian guests visited the “Merganteks” and “Bukhoro Gips” companies, where they familiarized themselves with production technologies, product quality and certifications. This was followed by the second Uzbekistan-Syria Investment and Business Forum.
The event was opened by the Khokim of the Bukhara region, Botir Zaripov, who spoke about the region's industrial, export and investment potential. He invited Syrian entrepreneurs to implement joint projects in the “Bukhara Industrial Development Complex” special industrial park.
Mohammed Yasein Horeih - Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry of Syria, thanked the regional administration for the warm welcome and expressed confidence in the rapid stabilization of the situation in his country and the further development of trade and economic cooperation.
- We have visited many industrial enterprises and witnessed the strength, aspirations, and production capabilities of the country.
During the forum, the heads of the Chambers of Commerce of Damascus, Homs and Tartus presented the potential of their respective regions and called for mutual cooperation.
In conclusion, the Khokim of the Bukhara region proposed increasing mutual trade turnover to 500 million dollars and establishing a Bukhara Trade House in Syria. Following the forum, B2B meetings were organized for the entrepreneurs.
As a result of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Bukhara regional branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tartus. The delegation's visit is ongoing.
