Uzbekistan women’s national football team qualifies for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup for the first fime in 23 years

TASHKENT, July 8. /Dunyo IA/. Matches of Group F in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers were held at the "Bunyodkor" Stadium in the capital city, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the Uzbekistan Football Association, the Uzbekistan women’s national team competed against Nepal, Laos, and Sri Lanka in Group F.
In the first two rounds, the national team defeated Sri Lanka with a score of 10–0 and Laos with a score of 7–0.
In the decisive third-round match, led by Head coach Katrina Kulbyte, Uzbekistan played against Nepal.
The match ended in a 3–3 draw, with goals scored by Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva, Lyudmila Karachik, and Maftuna Shoimova. As both teams were equal in all standings, including points, goal difference, and head-to-head results, the winner of the group — and the team to qualify for the final tournament — was determined through a penalty shootout. Uzbekistan secured a 4–2 victory.
Thus, the Uzbekistan women’s national football team has qualified AFC Women’s Asian Cup for the first time in 23 years.
The AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 will take place from March 1 to 21, 2026.
