“EU Reflect”: Uzbekistan marks the 35th Anniversary of Independence as a dynamic, open and future-oriented hub for innovation

BRUSSELS, August 20. /Dunyo IA/.  European online publication “Eureflect” has published an article examining the phenomenon of the ‘Mustaqillik’ Generation and how New Uzbekistan is combining technological advancement, economic openness and cultural revival as it marks the 35th Anniversary of its Independence, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article notes that more than 60 percent of the country’s population is under 30, while those turning 35 in 2026 constitute the “Mustaqillik” Generation - a cohort of citizens with no personal memory of shortages or a centrally planned economy, whose worldview has been shaped by global connectivity and sweeping reforms.

It is emphasized that Uzbekistan is confidently transforming from a regional consumer of technology into an exporter of digital services, driven by the ecosystem created by IT Park Uzbekistan. The publication cites successful startups such as TheCarGo, a platform founded by young entrepreneur Ziyobek Turdiev, which serves the U.S. market for auto-transport brokers directly from Tashkent.

According to the publication, an important factor in Uzbekistan’s international integration has been the introduction of visa-free travel for citizens of more than 90 countries, as well as the hosting of major international events, including the 14th UNESCO Youth Forum in Samarkand and the presentation of the national pavilion “The Aural Sea” at the 2026 Venice Biennale. These steps, alongside active regional cooperation in Central Asia, are strengthening the country’s standing on the global stage.

“Eureflect” concludes that Uzbekistan is marking the 35th Anniversary of its Independence not simply as a country with a rich history, but as a dynamic, open and future-oriented hub for innovation and international partnership in Eurasia.
