WASHINGTON, January 29. /Dunyo IA/. In a move aimed at protecting the rights and legal interests of Uzbek citizens abroad, Uzbek diplomats in the United States visited the temporary detention center for foreign nationals in Moshannon Valley, Pennsylvania, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The diplomats held consular meetings with Uzbek citizens housed in these centers, assessing their living conditions, food, health status and other daily aspects. The compatriots were provided with detailed explanations regarding consular and legal matters.

Most of the individuals in the center reported that final court decisions regarding their return to Uzbekistan have been issued and that the necessary documents, prepared by Uzbekistan’s consular authorities, are ready. They expressed gratitude for the diplomats’ visit, seeing it as a reassurance that they remain under Uzbekistan’s protection.

Citizens currently involved in ongoing legal proceedings conveyed that they miss home and requested practical assistance to facilitate a prompt return to their families.

Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in the United States, within the scope of their authority, have expressed their readiness to conduct the necessary negotiations with foreign counterparts regarding the return of Uzbek citizens to Uzbekistan as well as to provide practical assistance in preparing the required documentation.

At the same time, in light of recent changes to U.S. immigration policy, Uzbek citizens abroad are once again strongly advised to reside legally in the countries where they are located, strictly comply with local laws and refrain from any unlawful actions.
