Romanian Cinema Festival in Tashkent reinforces cultural collaboration between Uzbekistan and Romania

• 79TASHKENT, December 24. /Dunyo IA/. As part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Romania, Romanian Film Days were held in Tashkent, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
At the Alisher Navoi Palace of Cinema (Panorama Cinema), audiences were presented with the films “Warboy” directed by Marian Crișan and “Horia” directed by Ana Maria Comanescu.
The opening ceremony of the Romanian Film Days attracted a large audience, including officials, public figures, youth and students.
Speaking at the opening, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, Ambassador of Romania to Uzbekistan, said:
- This year has been very successful. We celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries with a variety of events - from the exchange of congratulatory letters between our foreign ministers, to my lecture at Tashkent State University of Economics, an exhibition of paintings and installations at the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and now the Romanian Film Days. During the meeting of transport ministers from the EU, Central Asia, the South Caucasus and the Black Sea region, I signed an important agreement on road transit transportation together with the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan. I am also pleased to note the positive trend in our bilateral trade. We can confidently state that our ties are growing stronger and more developed with each passing year.
In his remarks, Shukhrat Rizaev, Head of the Agency for Cinematography, highlighted the strong interest in Romanian cinema in Uzbekistan. He also emphasized the promising opportunities for future bilateral cooperation in this field.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Shukhrat Rizaev presented the Ambassador of Romania with a commemorative gift in honor of the 100th anniversary of Uzbek cinematography, which will be celebrated on 28 December 2025.
