First Ambassador of Uzbekistan presents credentials to the President of Nepal

KATHMANDU, December 12. /Dunyo IA/. Sardar Rustambayev, First Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Nepal, resident in New Delhi, presented his credentials to the President of Nepal, Ram Chandra Poudel, Dunyo IA correspondent.

President of Nepal expressed his deep appreciation for the historic appointment of Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to his country and emphasized Nepal’s interest in developing multifaceted ties with Tashkent.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a broad range of issues on the bilateral agenda.

Particular attention was given to prospects for deepening trade and economic cooperation. The Nepali side highlighted significant potential for collaboration in sectors such as hydroelectric power, tourism, and education, and expressed readiness to implement joint projects.

President Ramchandra Paudel also emphasized the importance of fostering mutually beneficial cooperation within international organizations. He highlighted the shared interest in joint efforts on pressing global issues, including climate change and the environmental sustainability of mountainous regions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Ramchandra Paudel reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to a long-term, friendly partnership and expressed readiness to support all initiatives aimed at deepening engagement with Uzbekistan.

It is recalled that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Nepal were established on 26 January 2018. Ambassador Sardor Rustambaev arrived in Delhi in January 2024; prior to this, he headed Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in France and Portugal.

He is 45 years old. Ambassador Rustambaev graduated from the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom), Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London (United Kingdom), and the Academy of Public and State Administration under the President of Uzbekistan. He holds a PhD in Political Science.

Since 2000, he has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, holding various positions at the central apparatus—from Attaché to Head of Department. He has served at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom and at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing, China. Between 2018 and 2023, he headed the Embassy of Uzbekistan in France.
