BERLIN, May 5. /Dunyo IA/. Participants of the “Hamburg–Shanghai 2026: New Silk Road Rally in Modern Cars” project, organized by the German tour operator New Silk Road GmbH, have arrived in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The initial arrangements for the project were reached in March this year during negotiations held in Berlin, with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany.

The international rally, which started in Hamburg on April 12, travelled through Europe and the South Caucasus, and entered Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan on May 1. The project will continue from April 12 to June 16 along an international automotive route.

According to the program, participants aim to promote cultural exchange, engage with local communities, and support tourism development along historic trade routes through overland travel in both modern and classic vehicles.

Uzbekistan occupies a special place in the project. The country’s historic cities, rich cultural heritage, unique architectural monuments, and traditions of hospitality are regarded as one of the most attractive stages of the journey. In particular, Uzbekistan’s historical role in the Great Silk Road continues to generate strong interest among international participants.

Project leader Isabella Hansen stated that the rally was designed as a cultural journey along the Silk Road, aimed at fostering international exchange and promoting countries located along the route to a global audience. She noted that Uzbekistan has always been a key part of the program and that visiting the country is considered a great honour for the team.

Within the framework of the project, meetings with representatives of the cultural and artistic sectors, as well as master classes, are planned in Uzbekistan. Such initiatives are expected to further strengthen cultural, economic, and people-to-people ties between Europe and Asia.
