SAMARKAND, November 4. /Dunyo IA/. On 31 October 2025, on the premises of the "Eternal City" complex in Samarkand, under the auspices of the UNESCO 43rd Session of the General Conference, a tree-planting campaign was held, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the event, held across an area of 1.2 hectares, a total of 564 trees and shrubs were planted, including elm, catalpa, Japanese pagoda tree (Sophora japonica), oak, oriental plane, horse chestnut, tulip tree, forsythia, lavender, thuja, as well as acacia, willow, persimmon, apple, and other species.
For reference: In Samarkand, a "Green Park" is being established to mark the 80th anniversary of UNESCO. The park will be divided into nine sections, each reflecting the characteristics of the historic gardens that have survived from the era of Amir Timur.
The project envisions the planting of 80,000 trees and shrubs, the implementation of drip irrigation systems, energy-efficient solar panels and pumps, rainwater collection and reuse systems, as well as waste composting and soil enrichment — all in line with contemporary environmental standards.
