Uzbekistan and United Kingdom ready to develop cooperation in judicial and legal sphere

LONDON, July 31. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov, has met with the Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice for England and Wales, Sir Geoffrey Vos, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, parties discussed the current state of cooperation between the two countries in the judicial and legal sphere, as well as prospects for its further development.

Sir Geoffrey Vos noted the large-scale reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years. He highlighted the ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring the independence of the judiciary, enhancing the quality of justice administration, and strengthening mechanisms for the effective protection of the rights of citizens and business entities.

Furthermore, Sir Geoffrey Vos welcomed the initiative to establish the Tashkent International Financial Centre, emphasizing that this project would contribute to increasing the country’s investment attractiveness, fostering a favorable legal environment for international business, and developing a modern financial services market.

He also noted that the application of the principles of the Common Law of England and Wales would reinforce the confidence of international investors, introduce efficient and predictable commercial dispute resolution mechanisms and ensure the competitiveness of the center on the global financial arena.

Following the meeting, agreements were reached on developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom in enhancing the professional qualifications of judges, expanding the digitalization of the judicial system and exchanging experience on strengthening legal institutions.
