Ashgabat discusses expansion of scientific and academic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, July 24. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshanbek Alimov, has met with President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Allaberdi Ashirov, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed vital aspects of the further expansion and strengthening of scientific and academic cooperation between the two nations. It was particularly emphasized that, thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, the interaction between the brotherly countries has reached a qualitatively new level.
Parties noted the need to develop cooperation between Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Issues of digitization, systematization and study of unique source materials, the organization of mutual internships for young scientists, as well as the conduct of joint archaeological and ethnographic expeditions were discussed.
During the conversation, particular attention was paid to pooling the scientific potential of the two countries to jointly address regional environmental challenges based on scientific approaches, including combating desertification, mitigating the consequences of the Aral Sea crisis and ensuring the effective management of transboundary water resources.
In addition, during the meeting, delegation of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan was invited to visit Uzbekistan to familiarize themselves with the activities of the leading scientific centers in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, as well as the Center of Islamic Civilization.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to consistently pursue joint work in the discussed scientific and academic areas.
