The initiative was organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan.
The project was implemented in cooperation with the Committee for External Relations and the Committee for Social Policy of St. Petersburg, with financial support from the Uzbek tourism company ZAMIN ANGOR CLUSTER.
The contest aimed to promote Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage and tourism potential, as well as to further strengthen humanitarian ties between the two countries. Participants included children from social support and family care institutions in St. Petersburg.
The creative competition ran from February 1 to March 31 in two age categories. Students in grades 5–7 submitted artistic works, including drawings, appliqué, sculptures, and other creative formats. Students in grades 8–9 presented multimedia and literary projects such as videos, presentations, essays, poems, and other original works.
A total of 127 children from social institutions participated in the contest.
The submitted works were evaluated by a qualified jury consisting of representatives of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan, relevant St. Petersburg committees, faculty members of the St. Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, as well as prominent Russian cultural figures and journalists.
As a result, 56 winners were selected.
The main prize for the winners will be an educational trip to Uzbekistan during the autumn school holidays of the next academic year. During the visit, the students will travel to Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, where they will become acquainted with Uzbekistan’s historical landmarks, cultural traditions, and modern development.
Organizers expressed confidence that such initiatives contribute to the development of intercultural dialogue, the strengthening of friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Russia, and the cultivation of interest among younger generations in the history and cultural heritage of friendly nations.
