The head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) office in Uzbekistan, Sarah Noshadi, shared with "Dunyo" information agency her comments on the anniversary 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, which opened today in Samarkand:

- Today, listening to the speech of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, I was once again convinced that the tourism sector in Uzbekistan is a strategic direction in the economic development of the country, as well as the "green" economy and culture.

I would also like to note the importance of the measures taken to preserve, promote and popularize the country’s historical heritage and historical monuments, which makes a huge contribution to the development of tourism and, as a result, to the economic development of the country. The protection of cultural and historical heritage is an integral part of UNESCO's work. But the most important wealth of Uzbekistan is its hospitable people.
