24 Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan secure placement within the World's Top 1,000 prestigious universities

TASHKENT, June 30. /Dunyo IA/. According to the “THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026”, published by the highly authoritative international ranking agency “Times Higher Education” (THE) during the Global Education Congress convened in Indonesia, twenty-four higher education institutions of Uzbekistan have successfully secured positions within the prestigious tier of the world's top 1,000 universities, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Rating evaluates the substantial contribution of higher education institutions toward the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), encompassing targeted activities in the fields of academic instruction, scientific research, institutional management, social responsibility, environmental sustainability and multilateral cooperation.

Consequent to the published indices, Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature and Tashkent State Economic University secured the highest distinctions among the nation’s academic institutions, earning prominent placements within the globally recognized tier of 101–200.

Furthermore, the National University of Uzbekistan and the “TIIAME” National Research University successfully entered the 201–300 ranking cohort, while Bukhara State University, Samarkand State Medical University, and the Termez University of Economics and Service secured placements within the 301–400 global range.

Higher education institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan also demonstrated outstanding performance metrics across individual sustainable development vectors. Notably, the Alisher Navoiy Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature achieved an exceptional milestone, securing the 8th position globally in the “Gender Equality” ranking index.

Furthermore, Tashkent State Technical University secured the 5th position globally, while the Fergana Polytechnic Institute attained the 6th position in the “Affordable and Clean Energy” sustainable development category.

Tashkent State Pedagogical University achieved the 20th position worldwide in the 'Gender Equality' vector, while Termez State University and the Tashkent University of Information Technologies secured the 36th and 48th positions, respectively, in the “Affordable and Clean Energy” global index.

Furthermore, Tashkent State Medical Academy and the Samarkand State Medical University have secured prestigious positions within the world's top 100 universities in the “Good Health and Well-being” sustainable development category.

According to verified metrics, the number of higher education institutions from Uzbekistan participating in this global ranking is demonstrating steady annual growth. While only 12 domestic universities were included in the index in 2021, this indicator expanded to 30 in 2022, increased to 47 in 2023, reached 53 in 2024, and ultimately culminated at 59 institutions by 2025.

In the finalized “THE Impact Rankings” framework, 50 higher education institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan are prominently represented, with 24 successfully entering the elite tier of the world's top 1,000 universities.
