MONACO, June 30. /Dunyo IA/. Monaco, the world’s second smallest state after Vatican City, has recorded its first-ever terrorist attack, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing the French newspaper “Le Figaro.”

On June 29 at around 21:15 local time (00:15 in Tashkent), an explosion occurred in Monaco. Authorities clarified that three people were injured as a result – two adults and a child. Five vehicles were also damaged.

According to the report, surrounding cameras captured a man leaving a backpack in the entrance of a residential building, after which he left the principality on foot heading toward the French town of Beausoleil.

The identity of the perpetrator has not yet been established. Around 40 French gendarmes and two helicopters are involved in the search. Enhanced security measures have been introduced at the border with the principality.

Monaco’s Minister of State Christophe Mirmand called the incident a terrorist attack and the first such case in the history of the principality.

Prince of Monaco Albert II also condemned the country’s first-ever terrorist attack, noting the “outstanding work” of public security forces and expressing condolences to the victims and local residents affected by the attack.

However, a source close to the investigation told the newspaper that the authorities no longer consider the terrorism version as the main line of inquiry and the case may be reclassified.
