CAIRO, March 23. /Dunyo IA/. On the eve of the Navruz holiday, the Embassy of Uzbekistan published Mahmud al-Kashgari’s renowned work "Diwan Lughat al Turk", reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

It is noteworthy that this significant work, of great importance to Turkic peoples, has been adapted into the modern Arabic alphabet for the first time by Professor Dr. Samia Muhammad Jalal Badawi from Cairo University.

In its original manuscript version, Turkic words were arranged based on the number of syllables and letters, making it difficult for young researchers to study. This newly systematized edition of the unique book will be distributed to major universities and libraries in Uzbekistan as well as in other Turkic and Arab countries.

The cover of the book, printed on high-quality coloured paper, features a world map drawn by Mahmud al-Kashgari.

To ensure that Uzbek readers can familiarize themselves with this translated work, copies will be delivered to the National Library of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

It is worth noting that "Diwan Lughat al Turk" is an encyclopaedic work by Mahmud al-Kashgari on Turkic languages. It contains valuable information about the Turkic tribes and clans that inhabited Central Asia in the second half of the 11th century, their social structure, language, history, poetry, proverbs, customs, as well as regional geography, metrology, and astronomy.

The work includes more than 8,000 Turkic words, with Arabic diacritical marks used to ensure correct pronunciation.
