RIYADH, October 22. /Dunyo IA/. A solemn commemorative event was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Riyadh on 21 October in observance of Uzbek Language Day, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by Uzbek expatriates residing in Saudi Arabia, as well as students currently enrolled in higher education institutions.

At the beginning of the event, a congratulatory message from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, addressed to the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of the Uzbek Language Day, was read aloud.

Speakers emphasized that the Uzbek language is a reflection of a great cultural and civilizational heritage. They highlighted the language’s vital role in daily life, its historical development stages, its importance in contemporary society, and its growing international recognition.

Participants engaged in a meaningful exchange of views on preserving and promoting the mother tongue, fostering its use among younger generations, and further strengthening its status as the state language. The necessity of increasing the number of scientific and literary publications in Uzbek in Saudi Arabia, as well as enhancing translation efforts, was also underlined.

Uzbek students recited poems dedicated to the richness and beauty of their native language, adding a heartfelt and artistic touch to the celebration.
