Ashgabat hosts event commemorating the birth anniversaries of Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur

A cultural event dedicated to the birthdays of the great Uzbek poets, thinkers and statesmen Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur was held at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages in Ashgabat, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event was attended by professors and lecturers from the institute, historians, literary scholars as well as representatives of diplomatic missions based in Ashgabat.
Speakers emphasized that the incomparable literary legacy of Navoi and Babur has inspired humanity toward moral and spiritual development for over five centuries. The works of these two great figures were recognized as a strong spiritual bridge between the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples as well as a shared cultural heritage uniting communities across the region.
During the artistic segment of the event, students of the institute performed the poets’ ghazals and rubais with skill, in Uzbek, Turkmen, English and Russian, showcasing the enduring relevance and universal appeal of their literary contributions.
Additionally, stage performances based on the works of Navoi and Babur were presented. The concert program featured renditions of classical music alongside traditional dances of both nations, lending a festive and celebratory atmosphere to the event.
The cultural and literary gathering served to further strengthen friendship and good-neighborly relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Participants noted that such spiritual and educational encounters play a vital role in instilling in the younger generation respect for national traditions and a spirit of tolerance and openness.
