BRENTWOOD, March 6. /Dunyo IA/. As part of a working visit by the Uzbek delegation led by Jovdatkhan Inagamov, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Mahallas, a meeting was held with representatives of the local council of Brentwood, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The conversation focused on exchanging experience in the field of local self-governance and discussing prospects for bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, information was presented on the unique features of the mahalla institution in Uzbekistan. Specifically, it was noted that the mahalla, as a body of citizen self-governance, plays a vital role in addressing public concerns, organizing social support and ensuring public oversight.

It was also emphasized that the mahalla system has been granted broad powers in recent years. It is actively involved in areas such as providing social services, working with youth and women and supporting families in need.

During the discussions, the parties noted the unique features and advantages of both governance systems. It was emphasized that the mahalla in Uzbekistan is characterized by its proximity to the population and plays a vital role in strengthening social cohesion, whereas the British system prioritizes institutional management, financial independence and clearly defined powers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the exchange of experience and to organize joint seminars and practical visits. The parties noted that this dialogue will contribute to further strengthening international cooperation in the field of improving local governance and ensuring public interests.
