"Club of Friends of the Uzbek Language" to be established in Hungary

BUDAPEST, November 1. /Dunyo IA/. A festive event dedicated to Uzbek Language Day took place at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Hungary, attended by representatives of Hungarian academic circles and fellow compatriots, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Oybek Shakhavdinov welcomed the participants and noted that the Uzbek language is not only a means of communication but also plays a vital role in preserving the cultural heritage and historical traditions of the Uzbek people. He emphasized the importance of studying the Uzbek language for the younger generation to gain a deeper understanding of Uzbek culture.
During the event, participants discussed the development of the Uzbek language on the international stage and its unique features in the field of education. The Hungarian side shared information about the opportunities and resources available for students interested in studying the Uzbek language in Hungary.
In particular, Benedek Péri, director of the Institute of East Asian Studies at Eötvös Loránd University, and Professor Ondřej Cejtner congratulated the Uzbek people on the holiday and wished success in preserving and promoting the language of great scholars and thinkers of the ancient world.
Benedek Péri announced that he is currently working on translating "Baburnama" into Hungarian and plans to translate the ghazals of Alisher Navoi in collaboration with Uzbek scholars. According to him, Uzbek language courses will also be organized at Eötvös Loránd University starting in September 2025.
Meanwhile, Professor Ondřej Cejtner discussed the established conditions for studying the Uzbek language and emphasized the need for sending experts to Hungary for teaching.
During the event, an agreement was reached to establish a "Club of the Uzbek Language" aimed at studying and promoting the language through various activities, classes, and cultural exchanges.
The event laid the groundwork for numerous new ideas and projects related to the history and culture of the Uzbek language, strengthening scientific cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
