Uzbekistan and Malaysia Trade Associations sign Cooperation Memorandum

• 160KUALA LUMPUR, July 4. /Dunyo IA/. An online ceremony was held for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Small and Medium International Commerce Association of Malaysia (SMITA) and the “Trade and Service” Association of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent .
In his opening remarks, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Karomiddin Gadoev emphasized the vast, yet fully unrealized potential for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. He expressed confidence that this document will not be a mere formal paper procedure, but will serve as a bridge for a strategic partnership between the small and medium-sized business ecosystems of Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
SMITA President Megane Soo noted that the agreement will open up broad opportunities for developing mutual business ties between members of both organizations. She proposed holding regular separate meetings to discuss participation in national and international exhibitions, as well as to develop new joint projects.
Malaysian side declared its readiness to list and actively promote Uzbek products on the country’s largest electronic trading platforms, such as “Shopee”, “Lazada” and “TikTok Shop”.
Zafar Khashimov, Chairman of the “Trade and Service” Association, emphasized that the signing of the memorandum will elevate trade, economic and investment cooperation between the business communities of the two countries to a qualitatively new level and will serve as an important foundation for opening new markets for entrepreneurs."
In conclusion of the event, the leaders of SMITA and “Trade and Service” solemnly signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The parties agreed to systematically organize reciprocal business missions, including the arrival of a SMITA delegation to Uzbekistan for a business mission in September 2026.
