Omani researcher emphasizes historical closeness of Oman - Uzbekistan relations

MUSCAT, March 12. /Dunyo IA/. The Omani online newspaper “Hormuz” has published an article titled “Oman and Uzbekistan: Bridges of Ancient History and Prospects for Strategic Partnership”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The article, authored by Omani Central Asia researcher Abdulhamid Humaid al-Kabbi, highlights that relations between Oman and Uzbekistan have been shaped over centuries through trade and cultural exchanges along the ancient Silk Road.

According to the author, Omani ports historically served as maritime routes connecting East and West, while Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent were key scientific and commercial centers of Central Asia.

The article also references historical milestones, including Uzbekistan’s independence, the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the visit of the nation’s first president to Muscat.

It notes that following the election of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, bilateral relations have entered a new phase of development. The author details reciprocal visits and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Oman and Uzbekistan.
