AICHI-NAGOYA, September 29. /Dunyo IA/.  On September 29^th, Uzbek athletes recorded honourable results in a number of sports disciplines at the 20^th Asian Games currently taking place in Japan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Akbar Djuraev, who competed in the -110 kg weight category in weightlifting, won the gold medal. He broke the world record with a result of 197 kg in the snatch. The Uzbek weightlifter recorded a result of 226 kg in the clean and jerk, becoming the Asian Games champion with a total of 423 kg in the biathlon.

In the boxing competitions, Abdumalik Khalokov, competing in the -60 kg weight class, defeated the host nation’s representative Shunsuke Kitamoto with a score of 4:1 and advanced to the finals. In the -80 kg weight category, Fazliddin Erkinboev lost to Ankush of India in the semifinals and settled for the bronze medal.

In the +90 kg weight category, Jakhongir Zokirov also entered the ring for the semifinal bout. He defeated his Iranian opponent as early as the second round. Over the course of the match, he knocked down his opponent three times. Our boxer's opponent in the final will be Aibek Oralbay of Kazakhstan.

In athletics, Anvar Anvarov claimed the bronze medal in the long jump event with a result of 8.06 meters. Sabohat Samijonova finished third in her heat in the 800-meter run, securing a place in the finals. Barnokhon Sayfullaeva and Valeriya Gorbatova will represent Uzbekistan in the women's high jump final.

Currently, the delegation of Uzbekistan holds 13 gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze medals, totaling 44 medals.
