Diplomats from Uzbekistan conduct a consular visit to a correctional institution in South Korea

SEOUL, January 30. /Dunyo IA/. Diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan visited a correctional facility in the city of Jeonan, South Korea, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the visit, Uzbek diplomats held individual meetings with citizens of Uzbekistan who are serving sentences or are being held on suspicion of criminal activity at the facility.

The discussions focused on the living conditions, nutrition, medical care, and the cultural and educational environment available to Uzbek nationals. Legal guidance was provided, including instructions on hiring an attorney and if necessary, contacting the consular section for assistance.

As part of the visit, the diplomats donated over 30 newspapers, magazines, and educational and literary publications from Uzbekistan to the facility’s library. A meeting was also held with the facility’s official, Sun Jong Guk, to convey concerns and requests expressed by Uzbek citizens.

Representatives of the Embassy requested that the facility administration continue to treat Uzbek nationals humanely and provide practical assistance in safeguarding their legal rights.

In response, the detainees expressed their gratitude for the legal and moral support, noting that despite being abroad, they deeply feel the protection and care of their homeland.

Such consular and legal visits form an integral part of Uzbekistan’s systematic efforts to protect the rights and interests of its citizens in difficult circumstances abroad.
