DUSHANBE, August 21. /Dunyo IA/. Samarkand is preparing to host the 12^th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the Tajik news agency “Avesta”.

Major international event will take place from September 4^th to 6^th , 2026. The theme of the upcoming forum - “Restoring human rights, justice and dignity for all in turbulent times” - reflects the international community’s efforts to address contemporary challenges through constructive dialogue among a new generation of policymakers.

Samarkand is expected to bring together around 300 delegates from 183 countries, representatives of 15 international organizations, and approximately 50 permanent observers. The conference programme will feature six thematic sessions addressing key issues affecting young people, ranging from protecting rights amid digital transformation and conflicts to ensuring economic employment and preventing violence.

Organizers’ innovative approach will include small-group discussions, training sessions and interactive sessions. An important component of the programme will be the 3^rd Global Forum of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, where participants will discuss the role of young parliamentarians in advancing the global agenda.

According to the Avesta news agency, the official part of the forum will take place on September 4-5^th, while the final day will be dedicated to introducing participants to Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage.

Established in 2014, Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) serves as a key platform for expanding youth participation in democratic processes. Hosting such a significant forum in Samarkand further demonstrates Uzbekistan’s growing standing as a venue for important international dialogue aimed at strengthening solidarity and fostering the intellectual potential of young people worldwide.
