Latvian companies explore investment and logistics opportunities in Uzbekistan

• 146RIGA, October 8. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation of Latvian companies, led by the Head of the “Central Asia–Baltic” Business Association, Aleksandrs Vidjakins, visited Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the visit, delegation held meetings at the Ministry of Transport and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, where the parties discussed increasing transit cargo transportation, establishing new logistics hubs, developing freight routes, as well as fostering cooperation in the railway and aviation sectors.
The sides specifically considered the possibility of establishing an Uzbek-Latvian logistics hub within the Free Port of Riga, expanding direct contacts between exporters and importers, and jointly entering the markets of third countries.
Delegation also visited the Surkhandarya region and the “Ayritom” Special Economic Zone. The participants discussed the integration of Termez into transport and logistics routes connecting Central Asia, South Asia, and Europe, as well as the export of agricultural products to European nations.
Furthermore, Latvian entrepreneurs explored opportunities for cooperation in agricultural processing, berry cultivation and freezing, greenhouse farming and the production of biogas and organic fertilizers.
Visit concluded with a business forum in Tashkent, where Uzbek producers and exporters met with representatives of Latvian companies. The parties discussed increasing mutual trade, expanding the export of Uzbek products and launching joint investment projects.
