CAIRO, March 9. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Cairo, Mansurbek Kilichev, gave an interview to the Egyptian news agencies “MENA” and “Al-Youm as-Sabi”, in which he discussed the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Egypt, as well as prospects for economic and political cooperation, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The diplomat noted that Uzbekistan highly values Egypt’s consistent and responsible role in promoting stability in the Middle East. According to him, Cairo’s diplomatic efforts to achieve ceasefire agreements, deliver humanitarian assistance, and prevent escalation make a significant contribution to regional stability and the protection of civilian populations.

Ambassador Mansurbek Kilichev emphasized that relations between the two countries entered a new phase following the visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, to Cairo in 2023. Since then, high-level political dialogue has been actively developing and cooperation is gradually acquiring a strategic character.

According to the Ambassador, in 2025 Uzbek representatives held more than 30 meetings with Egyptian ministries and agencies covering trade, investment, healthcare, education, culture and tourism. Bilateral trade volume has also continued to grow, exceeding USD 47 million by the end of 2025.

He further highlighted significant potential for further cooperation in transportation and logistics, industry, pharmaceuticals, agritech, food security, renewable energy and the textile sector. In addition, the two sides are negotiating a preferential trade agreement, which is expected to support further growth in bilateral trade.
